Valerie was born and raised in Romans (France) famously known for hosting most of the French shoemakers.
In 1989, as a VP for Stephan Kelian (Shoemaker, of course!) Valerie moves to New York to expand the company’s business in the US.
This opportunity will involve her substantially in the world of fashion and provide with tons of resources to feed Valerie already boiling creativity.
Fascinated by the world of Mosaics, Valerie creates on her free time small pieces for family and friends until she discovers in herself a true passion for the art and shifts her career path in 1995.
November 2002, Valerie presents her latest piece, the mural "La fleur de saisons" at the French exhibition Picassiette in Chartres and SAMA Mosaic exhibit "Earth Element" in January 2003, Miami, Florida.
January 2002, the Society of American Mosaic Artists praises the three-dimensional work "Les Négresses Oranges" and awards Valerie an Honorable Mention.
Elle Décor inserts in its November 2001 issue under the "trend alert" section the mosaic-raffia piece "Coq des Prairies" after her first show-presentation in Spring 2001.
Back in 1997, Valerie joined Anandamali Studio where she familiarized herself with the technique of Picassiette, the production of big projects and developed her style designing and building three-dimensional Picassiette pieces.
While working on commercial projects for Blue Bag store, French Restaurant L'Orange Bleue, The Limelight nightclub and other private and / or famous clients, Valerie creates her first collection "Couleurs et Matières" of 23 pieces of furniture.
Covered with Mosaics or broken plates and dishes (Picassiette technique) this collection incorporates her fashion influence introducing, as a revolutionary concept, exotic materials as bamboo, raffia, passementrie, broidery, fake fur and pebbles, to enumerate the least!
With more than 380 Mosaic - Picassiette pieces designed and produced, Valerie is recognized for her talent, expertise and teaching skills.
To support her Mosaic and Picassiette Artistic expression Valerie teaches out of her Tribeca studio in New York as her students find her particularly gifted educating Mosaic Art lovers of all ages. |
